We Believe
Our Beliefs
The sum of all our theology is Jesus Christ.
Everything we believe — all the details of our doctrine — flows from knowing God through His Son Jesus Christ. He's the reason we exist, the goal we aim for, and the explanation of life.
We believe the Bible is the Word of God.
We use the King James Version. We believe Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as payment for our sin, and rose from the dead on the third day. The only way to Heaven is by placing your faith in His finished work. As a Baptist church, once a person is saved, we are commanded to be baptized by immersion as a public picture of what Christ has done within. We also observe the Lord's Supper regularly to remember His sacrifice and express our love to Him.
We take the Bible literally.
We turn to Scripture for instruction in life and faith. In a day when opinion polls and media shape so much of public conscience, we believe we should first seek God's opinion on any subject before forming our own.
We believe the family should be strong and healthy.
The family was the first institution God created. Our programs are designed to help build strong families through fellowship, friendship, and support. We're protective of our children — background checks are required for everyone serving with kids, and we keep a security team and licensed medical team on site.
We believe the church should be the moral conscience of a community.
Since God created civil government, we work cooperatively with our elected officials and civil servants in our community.
We believe church membership requires only salvation and baptism.
People who are saved and baptized at NEBC are voted in as members unless they request otherwise. Believers may also join by transfer from another Baptist church, or from another denomination by giving testimony of their salvation and immersion baptism.
We believe in spreading the Gospel locally and globally.
Mark 16:15 commands, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." We take that responsibility seriously — in our city, our nation, and around the world.
We believe Christians should live like citizens of Heaven.
Our standards for music, dress, conduct, and social issues come from the Bible. We make no apology for our conservative convictions in these areas.
We believe a church should be filled with participants, not spectators.
A church is a spiritual hospital for healing — not a museum for relics. We do things with excellence, steward God's money carefully, and give an accurate accounting of every check written each month.
